Caterpillar is a collection of songs for the International market, presented as the International release of 'Soundtrack '96-'06'.

It includes songs from Elisa's repertory, some of them are rearranged, others only remastered. The tracklist is completed by a studio version of the cover of the Rolling Stones' 'Wild Horses' that Elisa used to sing live over her last tour. It also curiously includes a solo version of 'Gli Ostacoli Del Cuore'.

'Caterpillar' was intended to be released in Europe, United States, Japan, and Australia and launched by the single 'Stay', a brand new video of which was filmed in London by Joe Tunmer. The video has never been delivered to television stations and is strangely only available on the iTunes Luxembourg store. The sudden success of Elisa in the United States pushed for a change of direction which then led to the release of her album 'Dancing'.

After a first release in Italy in a limited edition, 'Caterpillar' was distributed on CD in several countries, especially from online retailers. It is still available for download from the iTunes store almost everywhere (in Australia and New Zealand in particular where the digital release also offers the bonus track 'Dancing').

The CD single 'Stay' has found a limited distribution in some European countries in a two track edition ('Stay' and 'Life Goes On') and in a three track edition ('Stay', 'Life Goes On', and 'Dancing') available only in Finland.

The song 'Stay' placed in the top 10 of the charts of some European radio stations before the interruption of the promotion and related projects.

The booklet was made of recycled paper.
